Medicaid Secondary Payer ID

Currently, the Medicaid Secondary Payer ID prints in HCFA 1500 Block 9(a). It will also appear in Loop 2330B in the electronic submission file
of the secondary claim. It is currently located under the Electronic Claims Options in the Payer Setup on the Billing Options screen.

The Medicaid Secondary Payer ID is also known as the TPL (Third Party Liability) number of the primary plan.
If a patient has a Medicaid plan as their secondary insurance, you may need to consult your state's Medicaid coordination
of benefits to see if they require a TPL number for the patient's primary policy. If indeed it is required, the
Medicaid Secondary Payer ID/TPL number should be entered on the patient's primary payer as indicated in the
above illustration.
